The importance of alcohol & drug policies
Experts in the field (see Research) argue for a shift away from the traditional approaches to managing alcohol and drug use in the workplace to one of a broader primary prevention approach.
There are four basic components of such an approach that are vital to a good workplace response:
- The development and implementation of a formal workplace policy
- The provision of education and training
- Access to counseling and treatment
- Evaluation
